CAPE COD STEEL REPAIRS, BOURNE & SAGAMORE BRIDGES

CLIENT:           US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS

LOCATION:    BOURNE, MA

Significant repairs to steel arch bridges including repairs to batten plates, gusset plates, wind chords, trusses, utility brackets, floor beams, and diaphragms. Both bridges carry four lanes of traffic over a 616-foot main span, with a 135-foot ship clearance over the Cape Cod Canal. Existing paint had to be removed before the steel repairs and new protective coatings were applied. Substantial movable platform system was used to access most of the work over the canal to minimize disruptions to public motor travel.
